The only time a lawyer can cry is when it's all over. (2 prompts, open to all)

House – Open to those who are rude enough to burst into his home or teleport into it.
[It had been a long day and now Edgeworth was heading back home, after a year and nearly five months of being away from it.
Still, Edgeworth could not help but feel that this was so surreal. A year and nearly five months ago, his world was destroyed. He spent all that time trapped in a fake body, in a tower full of nightmares beyond his imagination. Despite not giving up, the prosecutor was very doubtful that his world could be restored. He accepted the real possibility that he could die for real in that tower.

……And yet he really seemed to be back in Los Angeles. And the building he was now standing in front of really seemed to be his house.
Edgeworth took a deep breath and turned the door handle.

Pess gave an excited yap and dashed inside. In fact, she started to trot about the house, sniffing everything that looked familiar to her and wagging her tail. She turned to her master with an animated as if to say, “Look, we’re back home! I’m happy now! Aren’t you happy too?”

This was too much even for the stoic Edgeworth.]

I’d…..better get some tea.

[That was the only thing he could think of doing, to keep himself in control. Clutching his arm, he stepped inside. Everything in the house was there as he had left it when he came here. There was the polished wooden staircase going up, there was the closet to the left of him to hang his coat and there was the kitchen across the hallway. Was this truly real?

Edgeworth closed the door behind him, trying not to dwell on it. He had things to do. He had to get on with his life, despite everything that happened. Now was the time to brew himself a cup, contact his work colleagues and think about what to do next. After all, he was going to go back to his old life – investigate crime scenes, bring his findings to court and fight for the truth. All of that was part of his job and role in life as a prosecutor.

He took some tea leaves out of the cupboard. It had been a while since he had tea; real tea, not glamour-flavoured water. Suddenly, something nudged Edgeworth’s leg, making him gasp. He turned around to see Pess, sitting there contently with a piece of cloth in her mouth while wagging her tail. Edgeworth recognised the cloth immediately; it was one of his old cravats that Pess had stolen from her master when she was a puppy and she had kept it ever since. She would often use it as a comfort toy when her master went out to work. Finally, she was reunited with it.

Edgeworth felt a lump in his throat. He turned away.]

Please, Pess. I can’t….

[He needed to get a cup and saucer. And heat the water up.

Pess nudged him again and gave a whine. The prosecutor turned to her. Pess lifted he head as if to say, “Look, here is my white thing. It’s my favourite toy in the world and I finally see it again!”

In Pess’s eyes, she was home where she belonged. Zo had sacrificed himself so that everyone could go home. And now Edgeworth was home. He did not expect to see it again but here he was. The evidence was there.

All that the prosecutor had been through, his world being destroyed, the glamour, the unbearable ordeals he suffered in Animus and now the shock, disbelief of being back in his house mixed in with relief and sadness…..no matter how hard he tried, no matter how badly he wanted to, he could no longer hold it in.

The prosecutor fell to his knees, wrapped his arms around Pess and buried his face in her fur. A sob escaped his throat. Pess, in response, tucked her tail between her legs and kept nudging at her master. Whether or not she understood how he was feeling, Edgeworth did not know.

Feel free to knock on the door or teleport into the house accidentally.]

Japanifornia City Los Angeles Prosecutor’s Office. Two months after the Tower Incident.

[The Prosecutor’s Office. Floor 12. Room 1202. Room of Miles Edgeworth, High Prosecutor.

You may have had an appointment with Edgeworth or for whatever reason, he gave you his business card in case you visited his world and faced, well……legal problems. Don’t worry, he is working on a rather serious case and preparing for a trial tomorrow and plans to be in his office until very late at night.
Actually, that’s a lie. He’s planning to stay up working so late that there will be no harm in sleeping in his office tonight. The Chief Prosecutor knows as does his neighbour, who has promised to look after Pess for the night.

If you come in during the day, it’s best to knock on the door. Instead of bursting in or teleporting inside. Otherwise you will get a very grumpy prosecutor on your case.
Or, you could teleport inside the office during about 3.00-5.00 in the morning. And find Edgeworth sleeping rather contently on his sofa with his jacket draped around him. You could wake him up but, again, you will get a very grumpy prosecutor.

As well as a lecture about trespassing.]
